About the Event

This online workshop is for ASPEN OneLiner users with Python programming experience who want to leverage the OneLiner Python API to automate portions of their network model management, fault studies, and/or relay coordination studies.

The workshop will consist of two 2-hour web-meeting sessions with an ASPEN instructor and offline self-paced practice exercises.

  • OneLiner Python API intro and fundamentals

  • OneLiner Python API setup and usage

Automating OneLiner: Network Model Data Access

  • Reading network model data

  • Writing network model data

Wednesday Jan. 31, 2024 10:00-12:00 am (US PDT)

Automating OneLiner: Simulation

  • Fault simulation and reports

  • Relay operation simulation reports

Web meeting

Web meeting sessions will be held on the WebEx platform, which allows video and screen sharing and two-way audio interaction between all participants. Please ensure your computer can be set up to use WebEx before the training date.

Recordings will be available to all workshop registrants for offline viewing after each web meeting session.

Practice programming exercises

Participants can download the exercises to work offline on their own time. Questions and answers about these practice exercises will be posted on a private email list for all registered workshop participants.

Software requirements

Participants must have ASPEN OneLiner V15.7 or later installed on their computers and access to a stand-alone or network ASPEN key with a valid OneLiner license. The machine also must have the 32-bit version of Python 3.8 or higher. A Python Integrated Development Environment, such as IDLE, pyScripter, or VS Code, is strongly recommended.

Programming language skill requirements

Participants are expected to have working experience in Python programming.
